Jan lievens

Dutch Baroque Era Painter, 1607-1674 Dutch painter, draughtsman and printmaker. His work has often suffered by comparison with that of Rembrandt, with whom he was closely associated from 1625 to 1631. Yet Lievens's early work is equal to that of Rembrandt, although in later years he turned more towards a somewhat facile rendering of the international Baroque style favoured by his noble patrons, thus never fully realizing his early promise.   Related Paintings of Jan lievens :. | Toung Man with a pipe blowing on a glowing coal (mk33) | Saladin and Guy de Lusignan | Esther and Abasuerus (mk33) | Fire and Childhood | Pilate mashing his Hands (mk33) |

After his father\'s death, in 1884, Vuillard received a scholarship to continue his education. In the Lycee Condorcet Vuillard met Ker Xavier Roussel (also a future painter and Vuillard\'s future brother in law), Maurice Denis, musician Pierre Hermant, writer Pierre Veber and Lugne-Poe. On Roussel\'s advice he refused a military career and entered the Ecole des Beaux-Arts, where he met Pierre Bonnard. In 1885, Vuillard left the Lycee Condorcet and joined his closest friend Roussel at the studio of painter Diogene Maillart. There, Roussel and Vuillard received the rudiments of artistic training.
Julia Margaret Cameron
British Photographer, 1815-1879,English pioneer photographer, b. Calcutta (now Kolkata). Born and married into the high ranks of the British civil service, Cameron became an intimate of many of the most famous people of her day. In 1864 she became an ardent amateur photographer, demanding long, arduous sittings from her illustrious friends. She sought to illuminate the inner person of her subject, and her celebrated portraits, including those of Tennyson, Carlyle, Ellen Terry, Browning, Darwin, and Longfellow, are remarkably spontaneous. She also pioneered the use of closeups,
Fernand cormon
French Academic Painter, 1845-1924 French painter. He studied initially in Brussels under Jean-Fran?ois Portaels. In 1863 he returned to Paris, where for three years he was a pupil of Alexandre Cabanel and Eug?ne Fromentin. He made his d?but at the Salon in 1868 and in 1870 received a medal for the Marriage of the Niebelungen (1870; ex-Mus. B.-A., Lisieux, 1970). After his return in 1877 he exhibited regularly at the Salon until his death, establishing a reputation as a painter of historical and religious subjects; he also produced some portraits.
